Product recall seminar hits the spot

With recalls hitting the headlines on a regular basis, Electrical Safety First’s latest industry initiative was a timely seminar entitled Product Recalls – Do you have an effective recall process?

The event, which was developed in response to demand following the Charity’s annual Product Safety Conference, attracted senior delegates from across the supply chain.

Divided into two parts, the first segment offered a detailed look at the industry standard risk assessment methodology developed from RAPEX guidelines. Part two was an interactive session which took the audience through a mock recall - from making the initial decision to take action, right through to execution and completion of the recall.

“We were delighted at the success of the seminar and the way in which delegates engaged with the issues”, said Martyn Allen, Head of the Electrotechnical Division at Electrical Safety First.

“As a result of their feedback – and the response to our Conference last November - we are planning to provide some straightforward information to help small businesses – who don’t have the staff or expertise to engage with complex regulatory documents - understand and deal with their legal responsibilities in relation to product recalls. Electrical Safety First is now planning to produce a simple but effective guide which could help with this – and, at the very least, sign-post people to more detailed information.”
